Computer Classes and Help

We offer a number of introductory computer classes and are always looking for suggestions as well.  We also have computer labs every Wednesday afternoon from 2-4 pm where anyone can come in and get help. We help with everything from setting up an email address to using Skype, Facebook, or tablets. Our librarians are patient, kind, and happy to help you figure out how to get the most from the technology.

Take your basic skills to the next level with Google Drive. You will learn how to save files online using your Gmail login and see how to access Google's word processor so you can create documents on any computer/tablet and even your smartphone. Did you know the library has ebooks and audiobooks that you can use on your smart phones, tablets, and computers? The program is called CloudLibrary. Plus we’ve got our new database RB Digital with over 5000 audiobooks. And we also have the great digital magazine service, Flipster which offers you over 80 of the most popular magazines including Entertainment Weekly, Sports Illustrated, and Rolling Stone! We'll help you setup your account and go over the basics of using it, including your privacy settings and you'll be looking a pictures of grandkids and kittens in no time! Universal Class is a free database through the library which offers over 500 online continuing education courses taught by real instructors with 24/7 access via the internet. Video-based courses include arts and photography, business, career training, crafts & hobbies, how-to, office skills, pet and animal care, self-help, teacher tools, and many more! Continuing Education Units (CEU) are available on selected courses. You need a Bangor Public Library card to use Universal Class.
